Biography

S. Gulu Gambhir, D.Sc., is chief technology officer (CTO) and a senior vice president of Leidos. He provides strategic direction for the corporation’s technology offerings, guides its research and development program, and promotes business growth through technology innovation. He leads the corporate Office of Technology, including oversight of internal information technology services.

Prior to joining the company, then known as SAIC, in 2009, Gambhir served as director of Northrop Grumman's Science and Technology Operating Unit of TASC, holding a variety of technical and managerial roles since 1991.

Gambhir holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science in operations research, and a Doctor of Science in systems engineering from The George Washington University. He has published more than a dozen technical papers in various fields, including systems engineering, modeling and simulation, and aerospace systems.

Since 1998, he has taught three dozen semester-length engineering courses as a professorial lecturer in The George Washington University's School of Engineering and Applied Science to masters and doctoral students.

He is a current member of the AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) Technology Committee and recently served on the Intelligence and National Security Alliance’s cloud computing task force. He also serves on the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science Board of Trustees, The George Washington University’s Engineering School’s National Advisory Council, the foundation board of VirginiaFIRST 501(c)(3), and the advisory board of the Children's Science Center.
